About Us
Our members
All Congolese population from Democratic Republic of the Congo are and become dully members of the COCOMAINE once they arrive. We are located in the State of Maine within Cumberland, York and Androscoggin counties.
How we got started
The Congolese Community of Maine was established and incorporated in the State of Maine in 2012. It continues to be governed by fellow members of the Congolese community to this day.
What we do
We promote Cultural Exchange and Celebration through the organization of cultural events, festivals, and activities that honor the diverse heritage of our community members. These initiatives enhance understanding and appreciation for different cultures within our community and across the broader Maine populace. We support Language acquisition and educational programs to assist newcomers in adjusting to their new surroundings. Our Social Services and Support are extended to our members, particularly those who are new arrivals. Our human services have recently broadened to include all asylum seekers who seek our assistance, including members of the Latino community.
